I Just Keep Tryin'...

After receiving yet another rejection the other day (for an article I've been trying to get published for over a year now) and waking up this morning to find the coffee maker teeming with ants (which was lovely), I am now in just a fabulous mood to finish the chapter I'm supposed to turn in to my writing group today.

Where do all these ants come from? You would think that the fact they are getting massacred in their thousands several times daily would discourage them from ever leaving their sanctum deep, deep inside the walls of our house. But no.

The coffee maker?! Hmm. Must not be sugar ants. Well, if it heartens you any, the oh-so-exciting cucumbers that I grew have the nastiest most bitter flavor ever. Perfect ant deterrent, though. Drop the peels of one of those bad boys in a trail of ants, and they go elsewhere immediately. Powdered clove and cinnamon also work.

At least you're still trying to submit stuff. Shows character or desperation or something. ;)

It's mostly desperation, plus the tiny bit of ego that somehow remains uncrushed despite it all.

We've had the ant horrors too and now I'm having ant nightmares...seriously...i guess it's ant season, or so someone told me. As for the writing, I agree with Tadmack - at least you're stil submitting. You know great things are born of out desperation that's laced with bits of ego...

Hey, thanks. Hope you're gaining ground against the ants. We've had a few days that were almost entirely ant-free, after going on a spackle rampage...But I'm not holding my breath. I'm sure they'll be back, Arnold-style.
